Lirac Rouge Cuvée Marie 2017, 92 Points
« The 2017 Lirac Cuvee Marie derives mainly (90 %) from 100 years-old Grenache vines, with a smatering of other permitted varieties. Aged nine months in Demi-muids, il delivers scent of brandied cherries, cinnamom and cardamom. Full-bodied, lush and velvety (without any heat, despite being labeled at 15% alcohol, this is lovely stuff, approchable young and capable of leasting at least 4-5 years. »
Lirac Rouge Cuvée Vieilles Vignes, 85 Points
» A 60-40 blend of Grenache and Syrah aged in demi-muids, the 2017 Lirac Vieilles Vignes offer up hints of clove, leather and vanilla. It’s medium to full-bodied with firm, drying tanins on the finish, so give it a couple of years in the cellar and hope its come around. »
