GUIDE HACHETTE 2009
Côtes du Rhône Rouge 2007, 2**, France
” … This 2007 vintage (50% Grenache, the rest Syrah, Carignan and Mourvèdre) reveals a nose of finely mentholated, fruity aromas, enhanced by licorice. These impressions are also present on the palate, accompanied by spicy, roasted notes. Fatness, structure and supple tannins make up a remarkable bottle.. “
– Lirac Rouge Cuvée LES ANCESTRALES 2006, 2**, France
” The plot from which this wine is made is over a hundred years old, hence the name. Grenache predominates (80%), complemented by Syrah and Carignan. Low yields (20 hl/ha) have produced a wine of great concentration. The nose of cocoa and brandied cherry, reminiscent of a famous chocolate mouthful, is already announcing the fatness of the palate. We’ll have to wait for this bottle to allow it to gain even more complexity.. “
– Lirac rouge 2006, 1*
” …also very warm, combining animal notes, morello cherry brandy, garrigue and hints of menthol. … A rising star in the appellation and in the Rhône Valley in general. “
