Cuvée Bonheur Rouge, CDR 2021, 3 stars Coup de Cœur

This cuvée collects stars and favorites, and once again this year, it didn’t fail. A parity of Grenache and Syrah in this stunning red, with its deep color and complex, highly floral bouquet of iris root and gladiolus, nuanced with a hint of clove and black olive. Stewed blackberry adds to this palette in a creamy, long, finely textured palis, woven with a tight tannic weave in the making. “What freshness in the finale!” exclaimed one of the jurors. And what happiness!

Cuvée Bonheur Blanc, CDR 2021 2 stars

“A blend of Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Viognier in equal proportions, which has been “maloed”. In the glass, a lively, sparkling white, with a complex nose of citron and fennel on a smoky background. Straightforward and lively on the attack, the palate unfurls a caressing substance with fresh almond flavors, tautened by a fine mineral line”.

Côtes du Rhône Villages Rouge 2021 2 stars

“With its deep color streaked with mauve highlights, this red makes a strong impression. The nose is original, intriguing and seductive, with notes of leather and curry on a background of ripe wild berries. The presence of Mourvèdre (30%) is no stranger to these fragrances, nor to a certain austerity on the palate, which unfurls a dense, concentrated texture, set with tight tannins and underlined by a fine acidity. A bottle of character that demands patience.

Cuvée Elie Rouge, Lirac 2020 2 stars

Already the recipient of several “coups de cœur” and stars galore, this cuvée’s consistency commands respect. This Grenache-Syrah duo delivers a warm bouquet with notes of red fruit, Zan and garrigue, accompanied by a singular touch of turpentine. Fresh, dense and finely peppery, the palate displays an elegant but still firm tannic structure, which a 12-month ageing in demi-muids has begun to polish. Ageing will enable it to express its full potential.

Lirac Rouge 2020 1 star

Grenache, the dominant grape (60%), expresses itself in capital letters in this supple, well-typed red, with an open nose of kirsch cherry and ginger sprinkled with a hint of cocoa. The palate offers volume, roundness, mellow tannins extracted with measure and a long finish on sunny flavors of ripe strawberry and cinnamon. A lirac that smells of the South, to be drunk when the fruit is young.
