Côtes du Rhône, Cuvée Bonheur Rouge 2019, 3*** Coup de Coeur “This cuvée was close to a “coup de coeur” in its 2018 version, and this year it’s up there with the highest mark. A classic blend of Grenache and Syrah, but with an unusual nose: intense, pure, with a hint of candied fruit (raspberry), followed by beautiful spices that add an appealing dimension of freshness. Spices (cinnamon, pepper and nutmeg) build in power on a generous palate, but vinified tactfully, without over-extraction, supported by finely sculpted tannins. A cuvée that has never lived up to its name. Irresistible.”
Côtes du Rhône, Cuvée Bonheur Blanc 2019, 2** “Four grape varieties are combined in this white, which does only slightly less well than the red. Centered on almond and lemon, the nose seduces with its freshness and delicacy. These qualities are reflected in a tender, lively palate, ideally enhanced on the finish by a perfectly stimulating hint of bitterness.“
Lirac Rouge, Cuvée Elie 2018, 3*** “This multi-starred estate has produced a top-flight red: complex flavors of Morello cherry, garrigue and smoke, bearing the hallmark of distinguished ageing; fresh, intense attack; assertive body underpinned by polished tannins; long finish of kirsch and zan. A lot of feeling and character in this red, which delighted the jury..”
